LG Motorsports announced plans to run a two-car team in Pirelli World Challenge in 2013. Team principal and accomplished veteran driver Lou Gigliotti will pilot a Chevrolet Camaro in GTS, while teammate Tomy Drissi, an accomplished veteran driver as well, will pilot a Chevrolet Corvette in GT.
Gigliotti previously raced full time in World Challenge from 1991 to 1997 and again in 2004, winning Drivers’ Championships in 1991, 1992, and 1996. During those years Gigliotti amassed 108 starts, 23 wins and 26 pole positions. Since 2008, LG Motorsports has competed in the American Le Mans Series GT2 division.
In 2013, Drissi competed in six Pirelli World Challenge races finishing six at both St. Petersburg and Long Beach. The former 2009 Trans-Am Drivers’ Champion also competed in the American Le Mans series in 2013 for RSR Racing in the Prototype Challenge class.
"We are very glad to be back in the Pirelli World Challenge series. Being able to race from start to finish with no co-driver is the only way to go," said Gigliotti. “This series allows us a chance to showcase our LG Motorsports products in both the Camaro and Corvette under extreme conditions competing against some of the best racers in America, all in one."
Since 1988, LG Motorsports has provided customers with both race parts and high performance street parts. They also provide racers with track support. High-end motorsports manufacturers like Borla make products for LG Motosports to provide to their clients. One of LG Motorsports sayings is, "We blur the line between racing and street." This comes from LG’s close connection to the racing world. Racing has helped LG innovate great street products for the Camaro and Corvette market and their experience in the extreme environments that racing is conducted in allows them to get it right the first time benefiting their customers.
