SEASON 7 RACE 11 - 50 Laps Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Sunday July 1st 5PM PST- Monterey, California USA

Laguna Seca, there are many tracks in the world...But only one Corkscrew in the world. Set among the golden hills of California near the city of Monterrey, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s most famous feature is a steep downhill S-curve that drops five and a half stories in just 450 feet. The challenging sequence of turns pushes cars to the limit, and was also the site of what has become known among race fans as “the Pass.” In one of the most impressive moves in motorsports history, during the 1996 CART race Alex Zanardi recovered after nearly going off the track to sneak by Brian Herta at the entrance to the Corkscrew on the final lap, taking the win to the amazement of onlookers, announcers, and fellow racers. For over 55 years Sports Car Racing and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca have gone hand in hand. Laguna Seca will undoubtedly present and interesting challenge to the cars and racers of this series. Several features on the course are named for famous racers, including the Andretti Hairpin (Turn 2), the Rahal Straight (between Turns 6 and 7), and Rainey Curve (Turn 9). With short straights and lots of elevation change, Laguna Seca favors a tune that emphasizes sharp acceleration and good braking behavior. The racing is sure to be fierce as the points battle is at a frothy battle and the racers are hungry for points. The fight at speed will be on the beautiful wine country and rolling hills of this legendary track.

QUALIFYING TIME WILL NO LONGER BE LENIENT! HAVE YOUR QUAL TIME DONE BY 1pm PST SUNDAY. Thats 4 days to get it done!
The last session will run at 1:00pm. Anyone who does not will be subject to Rule 4.1E

I'm mildly content with my qualifying time but as always happen I ran over a second faster in the practice session right BEFORE I qualified. Gotta cut that shit out

I still need to practice more I have been too busy trying to learn to use the clutch effectively on the controller (with the mess ups involved with that as well.

I think I am running decent times practice wise but it means nothing I cannot do those times in qualifying

I have been busy taking care of things personal and with the series and now my girl wants to go out. So, I will not be on today at all. I was trying but the changes to the website for Season 8 and other things have taken me literally all day. I will be on about 8ish Sunday to get qualifying done for those who have not with a series official or room host.

Website is coming along nicely.

It will be interesting to see the times for GTC as I am sure the Lotus has poll but I think both the BMW and Mazda are going to make it close

I agree it will be interesting to see the lap times between them all (I think the Lotus cars will have pole), but I imagine it will be a challenging race with 3/4 battles going on down the field.

(I am hoping to take on a couple of the Ferrari 360's but my car might be too heavy to beat them around laguna Seca)

This is such a technical track that taking a corner just a couple of feet to the left or right of your normal driving line can add a whole second or more to your lap time. Consistency will be key.

This is so true...There are 3 corners and 1 S drop that can get you 1 second off or added to your time if you take it just right or wrong

i think someone will spin or their will be a crash at the corkscrew.

Unfortunately i am out for laguna. We have been without power since Friday and may not get it back until after the 4th. I hope to be back for the ring. My mustang was running DEEP 32's.

do you live in virginia? Or somewhere close. I was hit by a storm and lost power but it came back quickly but i know there are still a million people around me without

I am in a little town northeast of columbus ohio. This is a serious STORM. We are living off a small generator and my house is staying above 80 degrees through the night and hotter through the day.

Yea yesterday we had people coming into the store i work at for a hour at a time and not buy anything just because we have AC. I was scared i wouldnt be able to qual because we didnt have internet until around 3 pm but it came back luckly
