Another Miata Series

I know there are plenty of miata series out there, but here comes another one. I spent about 4 hours today building and tuning trying to find a competitive feel for car. After way to much time being put in I think I have it together. Its late so I'll be short and to the point. The miata series that are out there now use the new mx-5. I'm going a little old school with it. We will be running the gen-1. This miata is much more fun to drive and look better running in groups. I'll spare all the details for now. A track list and more detailed info will come tomorrow. Its late and I'm tired. I just wanted to get a teaser post up to see what people thought. Like I said, the details come tomorrow evening. Anyone interested let me know and I'll send the build right over.

These are the tracks decided on so far. If anyone would like to help get the build finalized and tunes set then please pm. The series allows spec build and limited tuning to ensure every car is equal as possible. The tune is still up to you, it will just have guidelines to help those who aren't great at tuning. A base tune will be sent out and you can adjust from there for each circuit visited. Tonight is getting many of those tunes together. I will be on late this evening doing some tests. Feel free to join me whether you plan to run the series or not. They are exciting cars to drive either way.

Just an update

Did some lobby testing with the miatas and had a blast. Thanks for everyone who helped out. New tracks and testing sessions will be coming soon. As well as a final track list. Sign up list will be up soon also.

The build with tune is up on my storefront. Its free so I encourage everyone to take a test drive. Any questions feel free to ask.

There will also be a track list with dates and available wheel options up either tonight or tomorrow.
A testing session will also be going on tonight if anyone would like to join. Around 9pm eastern.

Based on the response so far the field is looking very thin. This is open to anyone. If you have any friends that would be interested in this let them know. I realise there is no track list yet with dates. I've been a little busy messing with the car. It will be up today. If you are interested in this series please let me know. As of right now I don't think we have enough to run...

i reccomend eveyone tries this out. the car is so much fun to drive and if we get enough people this will be fantastic fun.

So the build is up on my sf. It has a tune with it that may not be changed. This is to keep as level a playing field as can be. This is only season one so depending on how the set build goes, that rule may be changed. Also if you would like to change the wheels I will sort out a selection that will include as many as possible for a good variety. Let me know once you have you're paint picked and I'll get the car to you with the correct wheels. I may also just put up several different builds with deterrent wheel options on my sf. I will decide and let everyone know.

so your saying i cannot tune my car?

Just to start with. Its to keep everyone even. There are some out there that tune very well and some who can't. I have a tune now that handles pretty good. I still intend to work with it. I'm just trying to keep it as something that everyone can enjoy and have a shot to win. Best way to do that is have everyone in the same car. Let the driver decide who is better.

Update on the tuning situation. After playing around with it, I have decided that the tune will not be locked. I will have the build up tomorrow for everyone to build there own. The build must be exact. The tune however will have regulations but will be up to you how to use what you have. The gear ratio will be set for everyone. Anything else will be up to you. I think you will like this gdub.

Edit: The reason for the change is, the car is limited on power and going through several different approaches to the tune, my times didn't differ much around different tracks. Only the final drive will be locked. Full build plus tune limitations will be up tomorrow.

What days will this be running?

There's a poll up now but I'm thinking Wednesday at 8pm eastern. Not many votes but that's the day that will be the easiest to host it for me. I'm busy Sunday Monday and Tuesday so Wednesday is best for me. But it depends mostly on what is best for everyone. Race schedule is up in original post as well for exact dates.

i dont know if i will be able to run in this one. work schedule sometimes conflicts with all of those times, if it was later on wednesday it would work perfect. i will see what i can figure out though.

Having the races that early on a weekday really excludes a lot of west coasters. I don't get home from work till 5-5:30 and by that time the race would have already started and possible been over. But having it late enough for west coasters makes it inconvenient for east coasters.

Oh well, just another series I would have hoped to have raced in!

How would 9:30 work for everyone? Its not going to be long races. About an hour long. I want to allow everyone to make it in that wants to run.

9:30 would work for me. i usually get off work at 9pm eastern if i have to work late

What's the latest on this series?

The series is still on. Dates are the same. A tune is available. If you want different wheels let me know and I'll gift you a car with those wheels. A signup will be coming soon. All details will be given on signup page.

The first exhibition race starts at 8:15 tonight. Please be in the lobby by 8:05. Qualifying will start at 8:15.
The race is at Camino Viejo Full circuit and will be 36 laps. Based off of testing that averaged 1:12.xxx a lap that is approximately 45min.
The car is on my storefront. For this race only the tune will be locked. This is the first race and it is for everyone to get adjusted to the car. The racing will be close and tough. If you've ever watched miata spec event you know they can be physical. As the cars are all identical passing will be tough. Bumping and pushing is expected and part of racing but professionalism is expected. Be courteous to other drivers and give them room. This being the first race of the series, it is a learning race. It should be fun and exciting.
I would like to wish everyone luck.
Rules about caution and pitting will ne explained before the race.
Have your cars painted (at least a number) for the event.
After this event the build will be given out and tuning will be allowed. More details will come on the tuning later.
For now make sure you are signed up and if you know anyone who would be interested in the race let them know it is open to anyone.
