Below is a list of the proposed New classes and cars that would be in each class. Please take a moment to vote on which class you would most like to see added to season 9 of The Forza Sports Car Series. The vote is weighted so make sure you vote because every vote will count.

These classes are in addition to the Current GT & GTC class of current cars in The Forza Sports Car Series. There will be a 3 class maximum until Turn 10 gives us the ability to race more than 20 cars in the same room.

Vote is weighted as such:

I think the Street Touring is an excellent idea. The GTRS is also a good idea, there are alot of the German Touring Cars in there and it would be interesting to see. Is there anything preventing a class at some designated PI where the cars have to be racecars, but are open to any racecar that can reach a base pi(i.e. upgraded GT racecar)? Then GT wouldnt have street vs racecars. Just a random idea, it wouldnt change my vote though, ST all the way.
Here's why. For starters it makes GTC one of the most interesting classes to be in, you have to pass and get passed. Keeping the series to a max of 3 classes (maybe 4) is also a good idea, it would get watered down. But the racing at a lower PI would also be closer. And did i mention how i would like to dip and dodge around a lower class without leaving behind GTC? : lol!

I think the st is not a good idea just keep the gtc class and add one of the other class.

I think ST would be too slow for the field.

Personally, with the car counts we currently have, I would just stick to two classes.

Only thing I would do is remove the racecars from GT.

I've actually been thinking about what boost just said, but I think it would do the opposite. The more people that can compete for championships the more people you will have show consistantly.

If there are three championships up for grabs that likely gives another group of racers something to still be racing for.

Oh and LMP.... obviously the only thing missing at this point.

Please change the GTC label to GTS..... GTC is porsche only.

If ST is too slow than any class 100+ pi from GT is too fast. So then no prototypes.

There is a reason why you would have to qualify to even get into an LMP car.......

No. I am saying that if you think that the ST cars are too slow for the feild than i am saying that the LMPs are too fast. Doesnt matter if you are good or bad at driving them, too fast compared to the rest of the field.

LMP = 200+ > GT

ST = 110 < GTC

The difference in PI and speed is greater with LMP's there for if the STs are too slow than the LMP's are 'doubly' too fast.

No. They really aren't.

Let me put it to you this way.

If you add ST then you turn GT into your fast class. THUS forcing Pred to qualify people to race GT because the closing rate is going to be similar to LMP and GT cars don't handle or react NEARLY as well as the LMPs do.

PostSubject: Re: SEASON 9 CLASS PROSPECTS YOU VOTE!!!   SEASON 9 CLASS PROSPECTS YOU VOTE!!! Icon_minitimeTue Oct 16, 2012 4:21 pm

I am tied between ST and GTRS because of the following

ST
Pros
Huge Variety of Cars
more David Versus Goliath battles (good handling cars versus power cars)

Cons
Unsure on how many people would enter this class because of the slower pace of the cars in the long run
traffic issues (ST will have to face GTC, GT/GT2)
possibly dilute the high performance racing in FSCS

GTRS
Pros
add more of a racing experience with racing cars added (same can be said with LMP cars)
adds a new challenge (GTRS cars are more tricky to drive than GT cars but no way near as hard as LMP)
quite a variety of cars (touring cars versus GT cars)

Cons
not sure on if touring cars would get destroyed by the GT cars (from what I know)
not that much choice of cars

notes on GTRS
I would say on GTRS class that it would be possibly a decent idea if its possible to add some of the GT2 cars to this class (and other GT cars that qualify) so that there is more choice in this class unless this class is being restricted to racing cars only. (if the GT2 cars can qualify it might be a sound idea to get rid of GT2 class in the process)

Im not voting just yet but if i did i would probably vote for st, but i think that having 3 classes will dilute the field to much. One thing that i havent seen brought up is waiting after the race, if st or lmp is added once the fastest class is finished they will have to wait for 30 mins for the slowest class to finish and for me thats no problem but i know some people need to leave as soon as they finish

What would be the chances of a GS & ST side series? Race a different day, maybe incorporate some sort of system to make it worth while? Idk, just a random thought so take it with a grain of salt

PostSubject: Re: SEASON 9 CLASS PROSPECTS YOU VOTE!!!   SEASON 9 CLASS PROSPECTS YOU VOTE!!! Icon_minitimeTue Oct 16, 2012 11:45 pm

As Admin my prime goal is to not dilute the field to where there is a loss of competition. I am pleased with the current GT class structure and the over 50 cars that can be selected from. There is a great cross section of most manufactures best sports car offerings to date.

In GTC (may soon be changed to GS) This class has provided some great racing across the board for everyone involved. The selection of cars is expansive and can make it a challenge just to pick a favorite car to run. This leads to the diversity that I strive for each and every season. There is no lack of close racing in this series when there are 60 racers who show up or 30.

Over 7 3/4 seasons I have come to understand that no matter how good the racing may be (not all agree it is good and that I understand too) people will simply fall out for various reasons. Something changes in their own personal lives, some just lose interest, some quit because they can't dominate and win every race, don't like the rules, don't like the PI system, the races are too late, the races are too long, Can't race sunday, can't race Sunday nights, and on and on. No matter what the situation is in life you cannot accommodate or please every one. But the one thing I can say is that even when our field is at it's lowest count of 30 racers we still have a better showing than 95% of ANY series out there and probably on their best day.

I am proud of this series. I am proud of the many racers and people who have stepped up to help me and this series because without the help and advice I have received this series would not have progressed to the point it is at today. Every racer who helps as a room host, helps new racers get acclimated, tech inspectors, social media managers, replay editors, editorial writers, and racers who generally go just that lil bit extra to help when I cannot. I do greatly appreciate you.

I ask that each racer understand that nothing is perfect. No sport, no motorsport is perfect in doing everything. The Forza Sports Car Series is about diversity and balance. I cannot and will not give a racer who simply is not as skilled a PI so high that his car is extraordinarily fast just to make it easier. There is a limit. I am not always on. But I do look to see who practices who puts in the time to try and get better at a track or better in general. Some people are just naturally fast and need little to no practice time. But a guy who is slower and does not practice then complains that his car is to slow...this type of complaint falls on a deaf ear.
On the flip of that I will not take a racer who is at a higher skill level and make it impossible for them to compete or have a chance at a win. I take the PIRS system seriously and make an honest effort at a fair and balanced field.

With the proposed classes, I would like to really have a second race day and time for this class or possibly a sprint 30 lap race on Sunday for the new class. This 'Sprint' race would, maybe happen right after qual closes for the primary GT and GTC(GS) class. Much of this is all a work in progress. I am open to suggestions, I listen to all of them. In the end a decision one way or another has to be made. It is no offense if a suggestion is utilized or not. Many have shaped this series to where it is today and I am confident more will continue to shape this series in the future.

I was typing this at the speed of thought so forgive me if it jumps around or rambles a bit. But I wanted to get my thoughts and feelings out as we enter the final races of Season 8 and begin to process for a Season 9 to start later this year.

ALSO and PS: I apologize to the winners of Championships and races where sponsored prizes have not been paid out. It seems that commitments are made and when time to honor them comes they start booty shaking and faking and making excuses as to when it will happen. I have not given up and I do still believe the sponsors will do as they promised.

CincoSport - Failed and completely dishonored their deal so I am having T-shirts made next week on my own dime. I have given them a nice post on their facebook page as well as a nice negative feedback on Twitter. I request others do the same.

Axcel Sport - Is still saying the are going to provide the sponsored prizes soon after the REAL racing season ends.

Game Stop - provided the gift cars ahead of time. I have them in my possession.
ALMS - Looking good. Not sure what exactly but they still have said they have items they will provide.

My vote, obviously goes to LMP. But I'll give my opinion on each class, from least to most preferred.

GTS: One reason against this is the fact that myself and I'm sure AT LEAST 1/3 of this series doesn't have the Porsche pack, thus we'd have to deal with a whole class of bad hit boxes. (Click HERE if you don't know what a hit box is. All those without the Porsche pack see the VW.) Second is these cars are going to be so close to GT, that it really won't add anything new to the racing. GTS passing GTC cars won't be any different then GT passing them and GT will never pass GTS. While I'm all for a spec class, this really wouldn't add anything new at all to the series and would make less cars per class for nothing.

ST: This would bring the Touring Car people to this series and it would add a completely new type of racing. Though, one thing must be kept in mind: Touring Car is a full contact sport. If you come out of a race without damage, then you simply didn't try hard enough and/or couldn't keep up. The penalty system would have to be... a little less strict for this class or it would kill the spirit of Touring Car. (Just watch any BTCC/WTCC race.) For people worried about GT cars passing the ST cars, it wouldn't be much different then an LMP car passing a GTC car. Speed difference would be about the same.

GTRS: GT1 cars would be cool, a good second choice for me. Passing would be the same as a GT car passing a GTC car, for both classes, only faster. Not much else to say about this class. As long as it's kept to only the race cars/very high downforce street cars it would be a good third class.

LMP: Would make the most sense for an Le Mans type league and is really the only thing stopping this league from truly being such. Would also bring LMP guys that normally wouldn't join this league, like the TC cars. For people worried about a LMP car passing a GTC car... an LMP car would pass you on parts of the track that you wouldn't even be able to drive on, and would be so much faster then you on the straights it wouldn't even be funny. And well... LMP cars are just badass. Cool

------------------------

(Pred's post popped up as I was posting this.)

Pred, you may or may not always make the most popular or what some people think is the 'best' decision, but if it wasn't the right (or mostly right Laughing ) decision you wouldn't have the number people racing that you do. Nor would that number of people finish so close to each other each race. Some people don't realize that finishing within a couple of seconds after an hour an half is CLOSE(!) and it happens week after week. As the race car driver, it's not about if you like the rules or not, it's about adapting to them and still coming out on top. You think all the ALMS or Grand-Am drivers like all the rules in their series? Hell no! But you grab the bull by the horns and find a way to kick it in the rear.

That said, I greatly appreciate the time that you put into this series, I know what it takes. And I thank you, not only from myself but from everyone that won't do it themselves. I really do look forward to next season, regardless of what, if any, new class you add.

not to push any buttons, or bring up dead horses, but you can't complain about people not holding up deals when you yourself have not.

I am referring to the pots of season 4 and 5.

I agree with Wilkerson, GTRS plus some high-end GT cars Mosler comes to mind would make the PI issue a non-issue and possibly improve the quality of each drivers individual racing experience. I dont like the slower classes (ST) because its too tune dependent. I can see the threads now- why can't I get a PI adjustment argument after every race. Racecars eliminate much of that as they have very little PI to adjust. As for LMP that would have an effect on track selection, can't run Maple valley or the extreme tracks w/o total carnage. Not because the LMP guys lack track awareness it will be the newbees that wont know what to do and when to do it. The closer we get to racecars the less likely we'll gripe about the subjective PI system. Also some people have been in the same cars since day 1, that in its self will make them change cars and prove they can run whatever car and still be out front. As a suggestion some tracks should be enduros some should be heats some should be sprints. For example, the Heat races should not have re-starts, this will help those drivers that lagg out to finish the weekend on the track.
The etrition issue has less to do with the series structure in my opinion, its the hopelessness that sets in once the points become irrelavent and sitting for 2hours as an also-ran is a poor way to spend a Sunday evening. If the cars are fast grippy and gives you a legit chance to finish on the podium the feild will stay robust.

Science: Personnel opinion on Touring Car; it's much less tune dependent and more driver dependent then you think. While it does play a part, a good driver can overcome not having a tune in the slower class. In the FWC races for example, Castor would use a stock or tuning calc tune each race and still pull out a top 3 or top 5 each race just because he's a very consistent driver whom is faster then he gives himself credit for. When you get into TC type cars, driving line is the most important thing. [Coming from 7 seasons of racing Touring Car.]

About the LMP cars passing at tracks like Maple Valley; like I said in my post before, LMP cars will be able to pass on lines that the slower classes won't even be able to drive on, and they'll be able to brake in half the distance that anyone else will be able to. In my opinion, you are going to see a LOT less issues with the LMP cars passing (at any tracks) then you'll see with GT cars passing GTC.

And lastly, on points; That's going to happen no matter what. No matter what cars you get into, the fast guys will always be fast and the slower guys will always be slow. It won't matter how much grip the cars have. If some people miss a race or two they are just going to lose interest and they're not going to race. Some people just like to race and they will show up no matter what. Nothing we can really do about that, unfortunately.

Smile

I would love to drive LMP cars in a mixed class formula however, because some of us use wheels and others don't or some guys just dont have the seat time that you or Pred or any other veteran has I think we can take for granted the skill set it takes to just "feel" competitive. The mission statement of FSCS in part is close compitition, now yes there will always be the haves and the have nots. So I assume the PI system is an artificial way to "tighten the grid". As a rookie If I read that in the rules package I would assume that my PI would improve until he could run with you or Bimmer or any other A room veteran. Quiters are quiters and this post is not a rationalization of that, its the keeping of the promise that on any given Sunday just maybe a newbee could win one against the gifted natural driver.

No spirit R rx7 in ST class?!?...o just realized that with race tires it goes to 547. Once again Forza messes over the FD by not providing the proper spoilers for that year -__- Its so ugly without the stock spoiler...I can't believe they put that model in instead of an R1 or R2 model.

There is a possibility, schedule is getting pretty hectic now. I've been trying to purchase a new property to rent out...you know how that process is (jumping through hoops). That and depending how addicting Horizon will be, I might be cruising around in a recreation of my ride on there.
